Purchasing a used RV? Get a RV “home inspection.” (not available in Oregon)

UpTopWhether purchasing from a dealer or a private seller, it is smart to have a third party fully check out the RV to make sure you know exactly what you are purchasing.

Why not have a professional RV expert conduct a full inspection of
the RV systems and appliances so you know the exact condition ofthe RV before you buy? I check the propane gas system for leaks and proper adjustment of the pressure regulator. I do a pressure test of the fresh water system to check for leaks. Check the condition of the batteries and the wiring of both the 120 volt AC and 12 volt DC electrical systems. Special attention is paid to any potential safety issues. Check the age of batteries and tires. Open every drawer and cupboard. Check that function of refrigerator and air conditioning is within specifications. Check output voltage and frequency of generator. Roof and body are carefully checked for evidence of any current or past issues.

After the inspection you are given a very thorough checklist covering every aspect of the RV (excluding engine and drive train). I also take photos of any issues that are of concern.
Checking Voltage

To fully test all systems, the RV needs to have access to full hook-ups –120 Volt AC electric (30 or 50 amp outlet if possible) City water connection, and sewer hookup. There will need to be some propane in the propane tank. To test generator the fuel tank must be at least 1/4 full.  You also will need to provide the necessary water hose and sewer hose. If these hook-ups are not availChecking for Gas Leaksable, some of the tests can not be fully performed.
I am also happy to provide training on how to operate and maintain the complex systems of your new RV
